Xbox Entertainment Awards Website Pulled Following User Information Leak

March 19, 2013 by Stephen Daly

User Gamertags, dates of birth and email addresses compromised.

Microsoft have today pulled the Xbox Entertainment Awards website following security breaches revealing user Gamertags, dates of birth and email addresses MCV has discovered.

The details of those who voted for the Awards were taken so that users could be entered into a free prize draw. Those who accessed the site could also edit or remove user information.

Going to the website now will produce a screen reading 'Application Offline for Maintenance' with visitors being advised to 'check back later'.

It is not known how long user information was accesible before the site was taken offline. Microsoft have issed MCV with the following statement:

"We are currently experiencing technical difficulties with the Xbox Entertainment Awards landing page and have taken the site offline while we investigate."

The website is believed to have had 2,892 users prior to the site being pulled according to one user.
