In an attempt to clean up its community, Riot Games' latest update for League of Legends' adds further restrictions on misbehaving players. The update makes it more difficult for poorly rated players who've violated the game's community guidelines to interact with others while in the game, as a penalty for their actions.
The update adds a new feature called Restricted Chat Mode that's being implemented "in an effort to encourage active reform and shield players from toxicity, we’ve implemented a new account restriction that limits in-game chat for toxic players."
Toxic players, identified by the game's Tribunal and Player Support, will have their accounts flagged by the system and will be given a very limited number of in-game messages and restricted access to the public chat channel.
Pro-gamers like Ilias "EnVision" Hartsema (seen right) were previously given lifetime bans by Riot Games for their misbehavior in the game.
To earn back their chatting privileges, these players will have to successfully complete matchmade games. Dropped games will not count towards it, so it'll be in their best interests to behave and play well.
The update also carries with it a host of changes to the game's various playable characters. You can read about them in the full patch notes for Patch 3.04.
