Microsoft have issued a statement to Eurogamer smashing hopes that Halo would be coming to Steam.
"We currently do not have plans to release any Halo titles on Steam, nor do we currently have plans for a PC version of Halo 3," a company representative said.
Speculation that Master Chief might be headed to PC came after the latest AMD beta drviers were found to include files for Halo 3. This led some to believe the title, first released on Xbox 360 in 2007, was PC bound.
This isn't the first time the prospect of Halo on Steam has been raised. In February Halo 3 was found in a Steam database. At the time Microsoft said they had no plans to release the series on Valve's client.
Earlier this year it was announced that Halo 2's multiplayer servers on PC would be shut down however 343 Industries' designer David Ellis later said: "Halo 2 PC support will be extended through June 2013 while we investigate further options."
The first entry in the Halo franchise, Halo: Combat Evolved, recieved a PC port in 2003 from Borderlands developer Gearbox. Halo 3, Halo Wars, Halo 3 ODST, Halo Reach and Halo 4 have all been Xbox 360 exclusives.
