If you’ve not played Lone Survivor, here’s your chance, assuming you own a PS Vita and want to play it. Figure out if those things are true and then think about picking the thing up when it comes out in July!
Never even heard of Lone Survivor before? Peep this mad gameplay synopsis i’m about to drop on your head like a bucket of water on top of a substitute teacher opening the classroom door. Only in this metaphor I’m the substitute teacher too, because I’m telling you what the game’s like. You’re mean kids and I don’t deserve that kind of treatment.
Lone Survivor’s about as close to a survival horror game as we’ve had in years, perhaps the most effective one since Silent Hill stopped really being all that excellent and decided to just be not excellent at all.
You’re a guy just trying to stay alive and make sense of the world you find yourself in. You’re confined to a single apartment block that’s filled with monsters that you somehow have to find a way past.
On top of that? You’re constantly having visions of the world that don’t seem like they’re quite correct. Flashes of a time that came before, or maybe suggestions that your mental state is giving you a false understanding of the entire game.
It’s great. It’s tense. It’s worth playing now, or waiting for the Vita Version which reportedly boasts a heap of added features.
Do whatever you want. I’m not your boss. Jeez.
