Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time Trailer Explains Why Murray Doesn’t Wear Pants

March 12, 2013 by Jordan Erica Webber

They just don’t make them in hippopotamus size.

Following on from its character trailer for Bentley the turtle – in which he loses his temper with an automated helpline – Sony has released another little teaser for Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, this one starring Murray the hippopotamus. In the video, Murray is perched on a stool next to a big sack of mail. He digs around in this bag and pulls out a letter with a question – presumably from a player – that he proceeds to answer in an exercise that plays with the fourth wall more than a little. The letter reads:

“Dear Murray, I was wondering why you wear a shirt but no pants.”

“I get asked this one a lot,” he tells the camera, before explaining that he just can't find any in his size. Naturally, this seems to bother him quite a bit:

“I mean, why won't someone just make a pair of pants to fit a husky hippo frame? It is just not fair!”

After that little outbreak, Murray says his farewells and we get to see some in-game footage of him in action. He really ought to be grateful for that husky frame of his, as he seems to deal with enemies by either punching them or jumping on top of them, both of which are presumably much more effective if you weigh several hundred pounds.

Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time is already available on the PS3 and Vita in the US, but it'll launch on both consoles in the UK on the 26th of March.
