God of War: Ascension is out this week, and it tells the story of Kratos as they happened prior to the events of the original God of War. Set as a prequel, we get to see Kratos' fall from grace as a Spartan general and his eventual rise to power as the God of War.
In Ascension, Kratos, former servant of Ares, is tricked into murdering his wife and child by the deity. Set six months after these events, Kratos must earn redemption from his past sins and free himself from his chains.
Similar to previous games, God of War: Ascension is heavy on both gameplay and story and sees Kratos dealing death with his twin Blades of Chaos, which he acquires at the start of the game.
GamesHQMedia has put together a 48 minute movie containing all of the game's cutscenes in its single-player campaign to give you a taste of what it has to offer in terms of story.
Designed by Santa Monica Studio, God of War: Ascension is exclusive to the PlayStation 3 and is the seventh title in the series. The game is the first in the series to feature a dedicated multiplayer mode.
