Chris Avellone, the writer behind 1999's Planescape: Torment, has given his blessing for the spiritual successor to the game, which is set to launch a Kickstarter on March 6.
The game, titled Torment: Tides of Numenera, is the newest title from InXile Entertainment, the company that previously worked on The Bard's Tale, and the upcoming Wasteland 2.
In the video below, Avellone announces the new title, along with wishing the developers luck on the project. The developer, now at Obsidian Entertainment, expressed interest for a Kickstarter last year after fans said they would donate for a sequel.
According to the official website, the game takes place in Monte Cook's new tabletop roleplaying world, where great civilizations have been devastated, leaving behind artifacts and technologies that members of the world call numenera. Players will have to battle a human that belives that you are a "side effect." Each choice you make determines the ending you will face.
The game seems to want to tackle great moral questions and make choices in interesting, dark, but profound dimensions.
The Kickstarter will be launched on Wednesday 9am EST and 6am PST.
