Have you heard of A Hat in Time? If not, now's the time. The cute indie platformer, which wears it's retro collectathon gameplay proudly on its sleeve, like a badge of honor, and which has been steadily building a lot of buzz over the past few weeks, has just released a new trailer. Take a look:
As you can see, it looks a lot like Wind Waker, though definitely has a Super Mario Sunshine vibe as well. Mostly the stucco walls. But gameplay-wise, it mostly takes it cues from Conker’s Bad Fur Day, Banjo Kazooie, and Donkey Kong 64, according to the game's makers.
Back to the visuals: isn't it funny how Wind Waker visuals were at one point considered a bad thing, and now many people are clamoring for it. Either their eyes are now open, or they're eating crow (or were always a fan in the first place). At any rate, A Hat in Time looks pretty neat.
No word yet on a release date, though it might arrive on the PC and Mac, if it gets enough Steam Greenlight votes. The makers of the game have also stated that a Wii U release is definitely in the cards.
