Rockstar Games has two big franchises on their hands at the moment. We have not only the popular Grand Theft Auto V video game title which continues to see active players through the online component, GTA Online. Likewise, the development team is working on their upcoming sequel, Red Dead Redemption 2.
Both franchises have a strong number of dedicated fans and while Red Dead Redemption fans are waiting for the sequel release, Rockstar Games may give some incentive to jump on GTA Online in the meantime.
Recently, the development studio has put out a new heist update for GTA Online. The update is known as the Doomsday Heist and it seems to deliver on a very over-the-top action-packed mission for players to enjoy. With this update, however, fans were able to dig in a little bit deeper and discover some ties to the upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2 video game.
Don’t get too excited as there are no juicy story details to be shared. With that said, according to a report made by Gamerant, GTA Online will have a treasure type hunt challenge with a goal of tracking down a chest with the markings “Boles Overland Stagecoach Co.,” which is a company also featured within the past Red Dead Redemption 2 trailers.
Inside the chest, players will earn a golden double-action revolver in which they will have to go through a particular headshot challenge. It’s unsure just when this mission will be updated to the GTA Online video game and if we will see some connection missions between the two video games later on.
Out of speculation, when Red Dead Redemption 2 launches with its online component, we’ll then start to see a decline in updates for GTA Online.
Currently, Red Dead Redemption 2 is set to launch at some point in 2018 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
