If you’re still wrapped up in the excitement of Super Mario Odyssey, we have some good news. Nintendo of America has confirmed that Mario’s adventures will be taking a dive into the breakfast realm with the launch of Super Mario Cereal, a concoction of mixed berry flavoured grains and colourful marshmallow puffs. Sounds yum. And probably unhealthy.
As well as being a collector’s item, the box art doubles as an amiibo accessory; tap the cereal box on your Switch and you can unlock extra gold coins or a heart while playing Super Mario Odyssey.
Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Strategic Initiatives said that the “partnership with Kellogg’s is another exciting way…to expand the Nintendo brand in unique and creative ways”.
It’s a surprising but strategic move, capitalising on the current popularity of Super Mario Odyssey, which managed to sell a massive two million units within a three day time period.
Nintendo says the Super Mario Cereal will arrive in US stores from December 11.
