Famed pompous arrogant airbag and developer of only one previous video game Jon Blow appeared on the Sony stage to show off a little more of his upcoming game The Witness. He started his speech essentially disparaging the games that had been shown before his entry onto the scene due to their massive use of explosions and then showed off a game that looks a bit like Myst with pipe-dream puzzles and tried to tell us it was the future of gaming.
It probably is. Braid was pretty good.
Doesn’t mean anyone has to, or should, like the man.
He mentioned an attempt to concentrate on minutia and eschew anything that doesn’t add to the overall game experience, said on a stage full of people that have attempted to convince us the opposite is absolutely necessary in order to sell a piece of technology.
The game surprised us all by him announcing that it’ll be a PS4 Exclusive. We’d assumed that Blow’s ethos of being the god-king of all independent development and risk-taking that he’d opt for a less financially viable and assured chance at success when releasing his game.
