UPDATE: [Official Controller]
The internet has been afire with rumors of Sony's next-generation console, the PlayStation 4. Much of those rumors has been surrounding the PS4's controller, which is said to be a replacement for the existing DualShock 3 currently used on the PS3, which itself was little more than an upgrade over the PS2 with the addition of vibration and a built-in gyroscope called the SixAxis.
Among the more credible rumors out there, the PS4's controller is said to be a new iteration of the PS3 controller, with very similar design. Supposedly credible sources have informed sites like Kotaku and Destructoid that the controller is set to feature a touch-pad on the front. It is said that the touch-pad will be like the one on the back of the PS Vita.
Of course, a touch-pad alone makes little sense, as it'd be impossible to navigate without a visual display of some sort. More than likely, the controller may offer an actual touch-screen interface on it. But until Sony makes the reveal, all we can do is speculate on how it'll look and what it'll offer.
With all this speculation in mind, a gamer has put together a mock-up of what he thinks the PS4 controller will be. It's a serious proposal of what the controller will look like. Check it out:
Here are two not-so-serious proposals:
