Today Beamdog and Overhaul Games have finally announced a release date on the Mac version of Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition. This remake of the 1998 original, already released on PC this past November, features new characters, quests, locations, and updated graphics. It also adds cross platform multiplayer, a feature undoubtedly more appealing with this new platform.
Available for pre-order and preload now, Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition will be playable on the Mac starting February 22. In reference to the delay in the Mac release, Trent Oster, President of Beamdog says:
“The development of the Mac version of Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition has been a longer process than we had planned. We strove to create a high quality release for the Mac fans of the series and we feel proud of the current version and feel the extra development time was effort well spent."
The Android version is still promised for sometime in the future, though the release window has not been specified. To purchase a copy on PC, iPad or Mac, head over to the official site at http://www.baldursgate.com/.
