The Witcher Card Game Campaign Delayed To 2018

November 23, 2017 by Jordan Coetsee

You’ll have to wait a little longer to play Thronebreaker.

It seems like CD Projekt Red has their hands full with development on Cyberpunk 2077, so much so that the campaign mode for the widely popular Gwent, is going to be delayed to 2018.

In a recent blog post, studio co-founder Marcin Iwiński said that the campaign’s scope is being increased which will necessitate more work. “We decided to increase the campaign’s scope and need more time to work on it. Shifting release windows is always something we approach seriously, however, we’ll never hesitate to do it if we feel you’ll get a better game as a result. I would like to apologize everyone who planned to play Thronebreaker over the Holidays — I assure you that we will do our best to make the final game worth the additional wait.”

Iwiński also noted that the team aims at taking Gwent out of beta next year, this basically means that we’ll get new content like cards, vanity items, challenges, balance changes, game patches to be “published more frequently.”

Considering how many times CD Projekt Red delayed The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to ensure quality it’s hardly surprising to see them do the same with this most recent release.
