When Bungie officially announced its new game, “shared-world shooter” Destiny, a couple of days ago, the reveal was very controlled. We saw very little actual in-game footage or gameplay, and were shown instead a teaser trailer within a “ViDoc”. While we were given some information, like that the game will require a constant internet connection and will be best played with other people, a lot of details were kept under wraps. For instance, Bungie confirmed the game will arrive on Xbox 360 and PS3, but wouldn't confirm any other platforms, even PC.
However, it looks like the Destiny website may have given the game away. Spotted by Nintendo Life and other sites, the source code for the pre-order page of the site actually lists several platforms including PC and next-gen consoles it labels PS4 and Xbox 720:
pc: "platform-pc",
ps3: "platform-ps3",
ps4: "platform-ps4",
xbox: "platform-xbox",
xbox720: "platform-xbox720",
wiiu: "platform-wiiu",
psvista: "platform-psvita"
This is far from official confirmation. After all, whoever coded the site might have put the other platforms in there as a prank. Vita is even spelled wrongly as “psvista”, and we get simply “xbox” instead of “xbox360”. But given Bungie's commitment to seeing the Destiny project through for many years and desire to build up a large fanbase, I wouldn't be surprised if the team shipped the game on as many platforms as possible.
Have you checked out that teaser trailer and the few early screenshots of the game we have? Are you excited, or is it too early to tell if this will be worth your time? And if we do find out the game is coming to PS4 and the next Xbox, will you wait to play it until you can do so on a next-gen console?
