Team Meat (a.k.a. Edmund McMillen and Tommy Refenes, the guys behind Super Meat Boy) has a new blog post that offers up the final teaser for upcoming game Mew-Genics. The post confirms that the game will involve cat fights, which was strongly suggested in a previous teaser that saw band Ridiculon talk about “cat battles and rumbles” and sing a song with the lyrics: “Cat fight, cat fight. Got cat? Let's fight.”
According to the accompanying text, these fights will actually form a substantial chunk of the game. But even with this knowledge, we still have very few details on how the game actually plays. We know the names of five core characters, one of whom – Butch – is featured in the image that accompanies this blog post, looking pretty shady as he umpires the fight. We know the game will involve trinkets like petrified poop, and mail. We know that you'll be able to freeze your cats, or enter them into pageants. But we can only guess at how that all fits together to make a cohesive game.
Luckily, that should change from next week, as McMillen confirms that the team will “finally announce what this damn game is”, as well as explaining why he has (apparently) “been using faked graphics for all the cats [he's] posted in the past 17 weeks of updates”. Curious? I guess that's the point! Check back here next week to (hopefully) find out what this game involves, and whether you should bother to get excited about it.
