Capcom Voices Commitment To Developing Switch Games

November 15, 2017 by Jordan Coetsee

The publisher needs time to evaluate the best way to leverage its unique capabilities.

Capcom has always been dedicated to Nintendo launches, from Resident Evil on GameCube to Monster Hunter on Nintendo 3DS, Surprisingly however with the launch of Nintendo’s, Switch, Capcom completely neglected the console’s launch.

That being said, Capcom hasn’t forgotten about the console, during a recent  Q&A session with investors during a financial call, Capcom confirmed that it has intentions to support the Switch going forward, acknowledging the console’s financial performance, and its positive impact on the gaming market.

“We feel the favorable performance of the Nintendo Switch, and the impact it is having on reaffirming the status of home video game consoles, are very positive. Going forward we will support the Nintendo Switch based on our fundamental strategy of multiplatform development,”

The publisher stated that they do intend to leverage the console’s unique capabilities, they just need time to evaluate the best route to do it.

“Further, we are cognizant of the need to evaluate further how to best utilize the unique features of this platform, which differ from those of other home video game consoles,”

So far, Capcom has launched two games on the Switch- Ultra Street Fighter 2: The Final Challengers and Monster Hunter XX, unfortunately, Monster Hunter XX has only launched in Japan. Let’s see what the developers have in mind going forward into 2018.
