Twisted Metal Is Having A Birthday Party On PSN

February 13, 2013 by Matt Hawkins

Basically, get every game in the series, and for one super low celebratory price.

No, it's not the birthday of the Twisted Metal franchise as a whole. Though for those who are interested, that exact date is November 5; in 1995 was when the first game came out, for the original PlayStation.

Instead we're talking about the most recent installment, for the PlayStation 3, which was released out almost a year ago. On February 14th, Valentine's Day of course. So to celebrate, there's a sale going on.

On the PlayStation Blog, one can find a special message from series creator himself, David Jaffe (a man that has definitely proven to have a way with words on numerous occasions):

"Seems like only yesterday some of y’all were telling me I was an idiot for focusing the new game on three characters versus a larger cast like we did in the earlier TM games. Ah, good times, good times.

But seriously, on behalf of myself and the amazing Twisted Metal teams from Eat Sleep Play and Sony, please allow me to say thanks to all of the Twisted Metal fans who showed up to support this latest explosion of carnage and meaty gameplay.

While our online community is by no means the biggest in gaming, it’s so exciting to see that it’s very much alive and kicking. It’s easy to find games, and new players are hitting the scene each and every week. We’ve gone through a number of post-launch tuning passes, and other than a handful of annoying glitches we just can’t address (remote bomb transportation, anyone?), we feel the multiplayer in this new Twisted Metal (both online and 2-4 player local splitscreen) is the best it’s ever been!"

Jaffe goes on to explain how the PS3 edition of Twisted Metal is only $29.99. Furthermore, both the PlayStation original and its sequel are also finally available on PSN for the first time ever. Even Jaffe notes how, for many, Twisted Metal 2, is still the best in the entire series. Both are just $4.99.

Twisted Metal Black, which was originally for the PS2 and was available as a special bonus for certain copies of the PS3 release, is also up for grabs, and for just $7.99. Finally, for those want the full monty can nab everything for just $39.99, which is quite the savings.

The birthday savings is in effect this very moment, and lasts till for the following week.
