Team Meat (a.k.a. Edmund McMillen and Tommy Refenes, creators of Super Meat Boy) has a new blog post about upcoming game Mew-Genics, this one focusing a little more on the music. Ridiculon, the band creating the music for the game, has released one song from the soundtrack called The Ballad of D. Claude, which McMillen says is one of his “personal faves”. Those who are interested in learning about “the life of an alley cat from Boone County” can download the song from Bandcamp at any price.
To get an idea of the kinds of lyrics you'll get to hear when you finally get to play Mew-Genics, here's the second verse (my favourite):
My face aint pretty, it’s kinda loafy
and my butt ain’t gonna win a cat ass trophy
Got a tail like kumquat, a nose to match
But I always seem to find myself a post to scratch
See this mean ol' city ain’t no place for a kitty
That needs mommy to bring 'em their milk
Said, hey diddle diddle, you’ll be strings on a fiddle
If you ain’t of the proper ilk.
This sixteenth weekly teaser is the second-to-last, and after next week's teaser McMillen and Refenes will finally reveal (or “spill the kitty beans on”) what the game is actually about – presumably beyond just “cats” – so that is probably why this week's teaser doesn't really contribute much to an understanding of what the game will involve. Hopefully all will be revealed in a couple of weeks' time, and we'll finally find out what all of these teasers have been hinting at for the past few months.
