Have you ever wanted to know how the inner workings of Call of Duty are laid out? Is there a question that you want or need answered? Then we’d suggest heading on over to Youtube and visiting Drift0r’s channel. His videos are a font of information concerning all things gaming.
Today, we hand-picked a video he published recently: Black Ops 2 In Depth – Fore Grip – What it actually does to your gun! While an aura of controversy has seemingly surrounded the foregrip and how it actually affects gameplay, Drift0r lets us in on a few secrets and shows us some of the research he has compiled.
In the video he does a side-by-side comparison of guns with and without foregrips, and for those of you don’t know, are supposed to increase gun stability when being fired. He conducts this test by using what is called a Wall Test, where he fires with one gun equipped with a grip and then next to it with a gun unequipped.
What this reveals is that the grip makes a huge difference in stability. The equipped gun showed a much smaller spray than the one without. After this layman’s test, he then shows us the real fruits of his work, letting us in on the aforementioned secrets: view kick, shake and gun kick. These are all apparently factors that are hidden within the game’s code, and somehow affect the foregrip attachment.
There is a surprising amount of complication enveloped within the video, and while you will certainly learn something watching it, be ready to take notes. Drift0r seems to know his stuff, and I almost got lost myself.
