Earlier today, a new trailer for Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen hit the phase space. Though the media is Japanese, it’s obvious that the focus of the teaser is to show us combat in the best way Dragon’s Dogma knows how – through killing flaming salamanders and overgrown slugs!
A few features that the Dark Arisen expansion will bring to the table are as follows: a Speed Run option, new difficulty mode, new bosses and a host of new game content for the player to gorge on.
The open-world hack-and-slash Dragon’s Dogma released in May of last year, where it garnered much praise from the gaming media and sold over 1 million units in under a month. In Japan alone, it sold over 300,000 copies in its first week of sales – no small feat in the island country.
This expansion is slated for a Japanese release of April 25, 2013. Shortly after, the game comes to North American and European shores on April 23 and 26, respectively. Dark Arisen will be available for purchase via both full game download and as a physical copy, both for the price of $40 in the United States.
Whether or not the addition will be worthy of that hefty price tag remains to be seen, but it will probably be a while until we see the next iteration of content for the series, as Capcom digs their way into other projects. That said, Capcom has noted that they plan to expand on the title, making Dragon’s Dogma into a full-fledged franchise.
