In November of last year, we reported that Microsoft Vancouver has been renamed to Black Tusk Studios and that they were working on a brand new space shooter IP.
As it turns out, not only are they working on that, but they're supposedly working on four new IPs in total! This was revealed in the LinkedIn profile of the studio's senior product manager and product planner Jonathan Brown.
Brown, who's been working for Black Tusk since November of 2010, lists himself as "project manager on four unannounced new IP and have been a key contributor to bringing these IP from the very early concept phase through green light to production."
While we could rule the space shooter IP as one of those unannounced four, that still leaves three new IPs that Microsoft has yet to reveal. Could it be just spin-offs of the same brand or really be an entirely new franchise altogether?
Seeing as we're about to usher in the new era of consoles, I suspect that these four games are being developed for Microsof'ts Xbox 360 successor codenamed Durango.
As someone who found the Xbox 360's library lacking when it comes to quality exclusive first-party games, I'm all for this. Let's just hope that not every one of the four consists of space marines, guns, sci-fi and the like since we already have Halo, Gears of War and — to some extent — Call of Duty for all our shooting needs.
