Sony shuttered Studio Liverpool a few months back after lackluster sales of its most recent entry in the WipEout franchise of high-speed futuristic racing games. The studio had a long history of creating high quality games behind them, and was rumored to have been working on a next-generation title exclusive to the PlayStation 4.
Concept artwork of the canceled game, which remains unnamed, depicts the game's setting as modern day London. The artwork depicts a high speed chase with a driver and two gunmen firing at police vehicles in pursuit.
The pictures also depict what appears to be a heist on a high-rise building, as the game's protagonists fire at other armed men while rappelling down the side of a skyscraper. In another picture, one of the characters takes out an unsuspecting guard from behind with a truncheon. One picture depicts the men lifting a safe down to a tram perched on the London Underground railway beneath Liverpool Station, through a blown hole in the ceiling.
The rest of the concept images depict various characters in different clothing, all of whom appear armed.
