GameStick, the android-based home console that hit the fundraising target for its Kickstarter campaign in less than two days, has had a change of design. Where the original concept was generally rectangular, albeit with rounded corners, this one looks more like a standard controller with protrusions that will fit more comfortably in your palms. While the controller itself – minus the buttons, of course – is entirely flat, the team has softened the edges to make them a little less sharp.
The team has implemented these changes in response to feedback from developers and backers, and the controller certainly looks a lot more playable in its new form. It's obvious the original design was a result of desire for minimalism, simply shaped and white as it was, but with the need for protruding analog sticks and buttons a controller like this will never be quite as sleek as something like an iPhone anyway.
Aside from a new look, the controller also has some added features. For instance, the controller can now be charged wirelessly via the GameStick Dock.
Kickstarter has rules preventing creators from displaying photo-realistic images of products that haven't yet been produced, so the update on the GameStick Kickstarter only includes drawings. Facebook, however, has no such qualms, so you can check out more detailed imagery there.
