Epic games sure did make a great move bringing the first battle royale mode to consoles with its base building survival title Fortnite. While PUBG was the originator of the battle-royale craze, Epic Games saw the opportunity to benefit from the hype and released the mode both as a free-to-play. Since it’s release 2 weeks ago, the title has been jumping from strength to strength with Epic games announcing that during the launch weekend Fornite officially had 1 million players.
Now the developers have announced that the game has reached new milestones – On Sunday the title had 3.7 million active players with a peak of 525,000 players at the same time.
It’s pretty amazing to see just how fast this game has been growing especially since the mode originally launched apart of the paid early access program of Fortnite. Perhaps the free-to-play model is how gaming could evolve in the future?
