Caution: Even though we are labeling this story as a rumored piece, it could still potentially spoil the video game.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is a big deal there’s a wide range of gamers all over the world eagerly waiting to get their hands on a copy of the video game. While we only have a few screenshots and two trailers, new information about the title may have been leaked out from an old online NeoGaf user.
There are never any shortages of supposed leakers and insiders. Some have been proven to be reliable and as such their information about an upcoming video game is quickly passed around and reported online. With that said, there’s a massive list of leakers who simply start up rumors and false facts.
Most of these new leakers tend to be forgotten about and ignored. That’s exactly what happened to an old NeoGaf user who went with the name “reddeadinsider” after posting some information regarding the upcoming Red Dead Redemption sequel.
The user left the online forum and has been silent, but now that the post has been rediscovered, gamers may hope reddeadinsider will find a resurgence and answer some questions about the title.
Apparently, the user noted that players would take the role of a gang leader named Arthur who would be chased across multiple states from the Pinkertons. That all rings true after the latest trailer released to the masses by Rockstar Games.
Additional notes made by reddeadinsider is the fact that Arthur would have the ability to swap out different gang members before missions and it seems that you’ll have some familiar faces within the gang such as John Marston, Little Jack, and Abigail, the wife of John Marston along with their son.
Furthermore, there was also talks of an extended gameplay option after completing the game narrative campaign, similar to the original Red Dead Redemption. While the campaign may be finished, there will side quests and options to go through afterward.
During the time of writing the post, the leaker noted that the morale within the studio was down significantly since the release of Grand Theft Auto V with many of the longtime veterans in the studio quitting.
Developers may have been heated as well with the frustration of not impressing the overseers at Rockstar when it came to delivering a demo of Red Dead Redemption 2. Oftentimes, the demo was scrapped due to lack of innovation from the original Red Dead Redemption.
We highly doubt Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive will comment on this old NeoGaf post and we’ll still have to label this as a rumor, but with getting certain aspects right such as the name, gang affiliation storyline and the fact of being chased throughout the narrative, the post certainly is gaining plenty of notice and traction online now.
Currently, Red Dead Redemption 2 is not slated to release until sometime in 2018. Rockstar has stated that the video game will be launching on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms with no word of a PC platform, despite the massive calling from fans.
