Team Meat (i.e. Edmund McMillen and Tommy Refenes, the creators of Super Meat Boy) released a little more information on upcoming game Mew-Genics over the weekend, with a blog post featuring a video introduction to Ridiculon, the band (or two guys – Matthias Bossi and John Evans) responsible for the game's music. While the video is mostly about the music, there are a couple of brief clips of the game and tidbits of info.
According to the pair, who also did some work for The Binding of Isaac, McMillen and Refenes “essentially brainstormed this game in a weekend”, saying of the game:
“It's about cats. We're not sure what about cats.”
Judging from the things we've learned from the multiple teasers for the game we've seen so far – e.g. that there will be trinkets like petrified poop, over 12,207,031,250,000,000,000,000 different cats, cat pageants, cat races, and an item that lets you freeze cats (and possibly other things) – it looks like the basic idea for Mew-Genics has been significantly fleshed out.
Bossi and Evans also confirm that there will be “cat battles and rumbles”, which is presumably the context for the song lyrics you can hear in the video:
“Cat fight, cat fight.
Got cat? Let's fight.”
