The next major console release from Microsoft is the Xbox One X. You’re likely fully aware of the Xbox One X, previously known as the Project Scorpio console so we’ll spare you the finer details regarding the console itself. What many of us don’t know in regards to the upcoming console is just when the standard edition will be available for pre-order.
In the past, Microsoft has unveiled a pre-order date for a specialized bundle of the Xbox One X which features a Project Scorpio branding. With that said, there were still several gamers out there that wanted a normal standard edition of the console, without the extra bundles and branding.
Until recently, the pre-order for the standard edition has been somewhat a mystery with Microsoft keeping their lips tightly sealed on the matter. However, it seems that Walmart may have officially unveiled the pre-order date for their chain retail stores.
Thanks to ThisGenGaming, we found that an advertisement on a Walmart website had revealed that the Xbox One X will be available for pre-order on September 21, 2017. That’s just a couple days away from now, but there’s a bit more to it.
According to the advertisement, the pre-order will only be available to take place in-store so gamers waiting online for the pre-order to launch will be out of luck. Furthermore, the fine printing states that the pre-order will be limited to two units per customer which could help in regards to lowering down a number of resellers buying up all the units for a quick flip online.
Also, being that the pre-order will only take place in-store could help with limiting the amount of units that go out for shipment rather than revoking the pre-orders made by customers as they did in the past with the SNES Mini from Nintendo.
At any rate, we’ll have to label this as a rumor for now as the advertisement was only available for a particular Walmart state website.
The Xbox One X will officially launch on November 7, 2017, for $499.99.
