Microsoft has now implemented a system for Xbox LIVE that should make swapping accounts from one Xbox LIVE-supported region to another.
We've listed down a short, but nifty guide on what things you'll be able to move, what won't cross over, and how to do it without any hassle. Just go to the official Xbox site, log-in and proceed with the following steps.
Here’s what moves with you:
-
Your gamerscore, unlocked achievements, and the rest of your Xbox LIVE profile
-
Any Microsoft Points already in your account
-
Any remaining time on your Gold membership
-
You can only move between Xbox LIVE regions once every 3 months.
What can’t move:
-
Some services you use now might not be available in your new region.
-
To find info about services, like TV providers, available in a specific region, visit the Xbox.com website for that region. (To find that other region’s website, click the name of your current region at the bottom of any Xbox.com page.)
-
Xbox Music subscriptions can’t be moved.
-
If you have a current Xbox Music subscription, it will be cancelled as part of the move. Any subscription time remaining can’t be refunded.
-
Some content may be blocked in the new region because of legal obligations or regional restrictions.
-
Before you change your region, make sure you’ve downloaded any purchased content you want to keep, like movies or music. Content purchases aren’t refundable.
First, click on the drop-down menu and choose which region/country you're migrating your account to. Once, that's done, click on the check box for the Xbox LIVE TOS (Terms of Use agreement)…and that's it! It's this painless now.
To revert the process, just repeat the steps listed above and you should be good to go. But note that you can only change regions once every three months.
It's nice to know that Microsoft has now realized it's now 2013 and made doing this as hassle-free as possible. Hopefully, they will also let us cancel our Gold subscriptions easyily next.
