You might think the clue is in the name of the Sundance Film Festival, but apparently it's a little more open than that. In fact, this year Nintendo will host some events during the festival, one of which doesn't seem to have very much to do with film at all.
First up, however, is the Wii U Video Challenge, with the premiere party taking place tomorrow (17th January). The company challenged YouTube filmmakers to create short films that focused on the Wii U and the GamePad, whittled the list down to 12, and invited those to the Wii U Video Challenge that took place last weekend. The chosen 12 were split into groups of four, and each team created a new short film over 48 hours. Those three films will be shown to VIPs at the premiere party, and the audience will vote for its favourite.
Additionally, Nintendo will open the Nintendo Lounge to executives from the industry and celebrities for three days starting on the 18th, and then on the 21st will let in the public. The Lounge will contain Wii U and 3DS games for people to play. If you're anywhere near Utah, you might actually want to check this out, because the list of playable games contains a few that aren't yet released:
Wii U:
New Super Mario Bros. U
Nintendo Land
ZombiU
SiNG PARTY
Rayman Legends
Wii Fit U
3DS:
New Super Mario Bros. 2
Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask
Brain Age: Concentration Training
Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate
