The previously reported video game/physical toy hybrid from Disney has finally been unveiled. And, as expected, it's an awful like Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure, except it has the power and weight of both Disney and Pixar behind it. Which, obviously, is nothing to sneeze at.
According to Polygon, Disney Infinity will be a sandbox game that's scheduled for consoles first, in June. It will then arrive on mobile and other online platforms afterward, throughout the rest of 2013.
A key component will be collectible physical toys; the initial line-up will be 40 figures strong. These characters will also appear in game. Plus, there will be Disney Infinity Power Discs, 20 in total, which works in tandem with the figures, to give the associated character customized attributes.
The Disney Infinity starter pack, which includes the game and three figures, plus the base that gets both the things talking to each other, will retail for $74.99. Additional figures and Power Discs will be available in a variety of configurations and price points.
The characters span far and wide the various films from both the Disney and Pixar catalogue. The Muppets are also expected to be in the mix as well. Though another report states the possibility of Star Wars and Marvel Comics characters being included also.
