The Cave Gets A Release Date, Mac & Linux Versions Announced

January 15, 2013 by Ian Miles Cheong

Players on the Mac will be able to experience The Cave when it comes out.

Sega has announced a proper release date for the Double Fine-developed adventure game by Ron Gilbert, setting it on January 23. The announcement comes with the surprise reveal that the game will be available on both the Mac and Linux in addition to the PC on Steam.

Priced at $14.99, the game has been available for pre-order for a few days now, and includes a few bonus items for use in Team Fortress 2. It’s an especially nice treat if you’re a hat-collectin’ kind of gamer.

In The Cave, you choose three out of seven characters to venture into a vast, sentient cave to learn about the mysteries within. You’ll be able to get a different experience depending on which characters you take with you and learn things about them as you do so.

The trailers below should help you get an idea of what you’re in for.
