Sony Entertainment Network Quietly Launches in U.S.

January 14, 2013 by Jeanine Celestin-Greer

Now gamers can buy their digital content remotely in the U.S.

As chief operating officer Shawn Layden told CNET at CES 2013, the U.S. Sony Entertainment Network (SEN) has launched in the U.S. The launch follows a December launch in Europe; much like was done for the redesigned PlayStation Store.

The SEN enables users to buy content from their web browser and have it automatically downloaded on their Sony device. According to CNET, this feature will come later. For now, it serves as a useful web-based PlayStation Store, so you can look up what content is available no matter where you are. Layden also mentioned that the PlayStation Store redesign has led to double-digit growth in Europe and the U.S.

All the old PSN links and usernames reportedly still work. If you are a North American user, you can log into the SEN here.

This new addition is just one step in Sony's plan to "bring content to more regions, expand the number of compatible devices, and design a common user interface across device categories."
