In a rather excellent move, Capcom has announced that DmC will be getting the oft-requested "Bloody Palace" mode known from past iterations of the Devil May Cry games and it's going to be free as a post-launch update.
For those not familar with Bloody Palace, it's basically a gauntlet mode where Dante must survive more than 100 levels enemies and bosses. Think of it as way to test and see how good you are at DmC's combat system.
There is a small catch, but one I think DmC fans won't mind. Players must first finish the main story mode once before accessing the mode. While Capcom didn't outline it, I'm assuming finishing it on any difficulty mode will do the trick. Once you've done that and downloaded the free update, you can then proceed to bash skulls and test your combat mettle.
Not bad, Capcom, not bad. In this day where almost every piece of content is tucked away as pre-order bonuses or paid DLC, it's comforting to know that there's still a chance of getting free stuff.
DmC is scheduled for release next week on January 15 for the Xbox 360 and PS3.
