First Act of Kentucky Route Zero Now Available

January 9, 2013 by Holly Green

Check out this quirky, mysterious little indie point and click.

Enthusiasm for indie point and click title Kentucky Route Zero has been rampant across my personal Twitter feed lately, and now having watched this trailer I understand why. Mysterious, beautiful, and with a quiet eeriness that could awaken even the deadest sense of curiosity, the game almost evokes a Twin Peaks like air of quirky but dark charm. From the site's description:

"Kentucky Route Zero is a magical realist adventure game about a secret highway in the caves beneath Kentucky, and the mysterious folks that travel it. Gameplay is inspired by point-and-click adventure games…but focused on characterizaton, atmosphere, and storytelling rather than clever puzzles or challenges of skill."

Expected as a five part series, the game is DRM free and available for Windows and Mac, with a Linux version the way. Download the first act available now for $7, or grab a season pass price of $25. Those who shell out for the season will also receive MP3s of the game's soundtrack, featuring traditional hymns and bluesgrass performed by The Bedquilt Ramblers and an original electronic score by Ben Babbitt.
