Sony Santa Monica has just released the latest episode of their God of War: Ascension "Unchained" video documentary, which highlights the creation process of the game.
In this new video, which is called "A New Beginning," the studio shows us how they brought the multiplayer component from drawing board to life, and we even get to see a "bare bones" version of it running with the devs playing it for the first time! This prototype version of the multiplayer is barely playable, with environment and other art assets missing, with the character models themselves the only one looking halfway finished — and even that is a stretch.
Speaking of multiplayer, God of War: Ascension's multiplayer beta is on-going right as we speak. If you're a PlayStation Plus member, you should be able to participate once the PSN Store updates later today.
While there are a lot of unknowns in the franchise's first foray into competitive multiplayer, it does look like Sony Santa Monica really believes it's going to work. For those in the beta, what do you think so far? Is it a viable game mode or should they just stick to the game's epic narrative?
God of War: Ascension is scheduled to hit on March 12 for the PS3.
