Angry Birds Was Super Popular On Christmas

January 4, 2013 by Matt Hawkins

Hardly a shocker, given how many people got iPhones and Androids that morning.

Now that the holidays are behind us, we're getting all kinds of statistical data as it pertains to stuff that was found (and later fired up) on Christmas morning. A record number of iOS and Android devices were given and received this past holiday, 17.4 million to be exact.

As a result, both the Apple App and Google Play shops saw plenty of downloading. And while we don't know what the absolute most popular app or game was, across the board, if one had to guess, it's a very good chance that it was something to do with Angry Birds.

According to Rovio, their assorted Angry Birds games were donwloaded 8 million times on December 25th. Basically, Angry Birds was downloaded on every other device. Most impressive.

And when counting Christmas week as a whole, which covers December 22-29, Rovio enjoyed 30 million downloads total, and that too is extremely impressive also.
