For fans of Atlus' red-hot popular RPG series who simply can't get enough, there's now both a movie and a musical coming soon.
First you have an motion picture that's based upon Persona 3, something that's somewhat common knowledge. At lest to anyone who saw Persona 4 The Animation: The Factor of Hope, which was took bits and pieces from the televised adaptation of P4 and turned it into a 90 minute flick; the existence of the aforementioned P3 movie was revealed at the very end.
Though Polygon reports that the forthcoming motion picture has just been labeled Persona 3 The Movie #1, meaning there could be more down the road. It's scheduled for release for sometime next year.
Next, there's also word of a forthcoming musical that's based upon (the vastly superior) Persona 4. But unlike the movie on the horizon, this one is purely a fan effort. It's the handiwork of few fans and how it's a "non-parody, musical version" of the game.
The project has been in the works for three years now, and of November, most of the songs have been completed. At the moment, the pair is trying to gather local performers to produce a test run of the show, and using feedback from the audience, they would then go through the process of figuring out what works and what doesn't.
Many off-Broadway shows even full on Broadway shows go through a similar process of work shopping. To keep abreast of details, and hear a sample of one of the songs, simply check out the Tumblr.
