In case you didn't get the memo: Resident Evil 6 has been a massive let down, across the board. Yes, it sold millions of copies right up front, and probably turned quite the impressive profit for Capcom. But the vast majority of those first day purchases were from diehard fans who were going to buy RE6 regardless.
Yet they too discovered all too soon that the critics were totally right, and joined everyone else in saying that RE6 was an unfocused, uninspired mess. Many tossed their copies aside after the first few frustrating (and flat out boring) minutes, and even those that managed to clear the campaign did so just to say that they did and to get on their lives.
Well, for those of you who still have a copy, there is now a legitimately compelling reason to give the game another go. Capcom has revealed a set of downloadable costumes that gives everyone a retro, low-fi look. Everyone actually look blockier than they did in their respective debuts, but who cares, right? To see each one in detail, head on over to Capcom Unity.
Unfortunately, there will be a certain degree of virtual legwork to obtain one:
Want to start obtaining these things? Well, it seems our first opportunity to get one is coming up on December 28th, when residentevil.net launches the "Zombie Mayhem" online event. The event calls for all RE6 players to join forces and kill as many zombies as possible. If we hit 15 million worldwide, all participants will be able to unlock one costume from this set.
