Sony has announced that the PlayStation 3 has hit 30 million sales in Europe and other PAL territories.
Jim Ryan, CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) had this to say regarding the milestone:
This is a major milestone for us and clearly shows just how popular the PlayStation brand and products are within Europe and the PAL territories.
The PS3, which launched in Europe in March of 2007, has hit the milestone after five years on the market, which is an impressive feat. I'm guessing that with this kind of support, there's a reason why PlayStation Plus for Europe is better than what U.S. PS+ members get each month.
Regardless of PS+ support, congrats to Sony and let's see if this sales momentum continues with the PS4 looming over the horizon next year.
Are you one of the 30 million owners of a PS3 in Europe? Is it really bigger there than the Xbox 360 that some people are claiming?
