Fighting game fans might not know this or have completely blocked it from memory, but before Capcom's Marvel vs. Capcom 3 was released, EA signed a deal with Marvel to make their own fighting game series. Out of that deal, only the mediocre Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects was released. But the studio behind the Def Jam fighting/wrestling game franchise — EA Chicago — was working on another Marvel fighting game of their own.
Obviously, that fighting game never saw the light of day, but an artist that worked on the cancelled Marvel fighter has now shared some assets, which include screenshots, an image showing the controller layout and even a brief clip.
Here's a brief clip that shows off the in-game menus. Interestingly enough, they're shown off in a comic book manner, which is the same look Capcom's Marvel vs. Capcom 3 employs now. Coincidence or maybe Marvel liked it and suggested it to Capcom? Your guess is as good as mine at this point.
Aside from the clip, here are two screenshots showing the character select screen and the button layout for the Xbox 360 controller.

I do admit, the art style looks good. But could it have been better than Marvel vs. Capcom 3? We won't the answer to that now. Of course, seeing as it was cancelled and Rise of the Imperfects was, well, not perfect, I'd surmise that fighting game fans got the better end of the deal.
