Halo 4: Cortana Gets “Frozen Sleep” Tribute Song

December 16, 2012 by Alex Co

Halo 4’s Cortana gets her own tribute song…give it a watch now.

How big of a Halo fan are you? If you think you are, are you a bigger fan "Malukah" who even made a tribute song to Master Chief's partner, Cortana?

Malukah, which composes music and is a big videogame fan, used the theme composed by Marty O'Donnell and other parts of Halo's soundtrack to create what she calls "Frozen Sleep."

For the intro, she used "Never Forget" in Halo 3, in the verse itself, she used bits of the Halo Theme's main melody but slowed it down; for the chorus, it's the Halo Theme intro and finally, the guitar solo is her attempt to tribute the MJOLNIR mix if the Halo Theme.

Have a go at it below:

Just in case you're curious, the lyrics can be read below, too.

Frozen Sleep

by Malukah

Wait in the dark

With the memories that replay my lonesome fears

And my mind

Is betrayed by time passing by

And I just need to to wake up

I'm gonna need you to save us

And take me home

Feel the madness taking over

While you lay in frozen sleep

Though my life's now fading

You're still a promise I will keep

Wait in the dark

Every feeling becomes so magnified

And my mind

Goes on and on

I'm trying to hold on

But I keep losing control of

All I know

Though my life's now fading

You're still a promise I will keep

You'll always be

My sword, my shield

Without going into spoilers for those who haven't finished Halo 4 yet, I'd say the song's pretty fitting. If you feel the same, you can download it for free here.

Have you finished Halo 4 yet? Without going into spoilers, what do you make of its ending? And for those that didn't know, finishing the game on "Legendary" will net you a little surprise for the game's post-credits scene. Will 343 Industries go through with it or was that just a tease?
