Ubisoft has announced that Assassin's Creed 3 has now sold seven million copies worldwide a month after release and this makes it the fastest-selling game in the publisher's history.
The publisher also notes that in solo missions, "gamers have accumulated more than 82 centuries of gaming time and committed more than 3 billion in-game assassinations," while its multiplayer component is gaining momentum as well, as more than twice the amount of people have joined AC3's multiplayer mode compared to the franchise's previous release — Assassin's Creed Revelations — which equates to 250 million assassinations delivered in more than five billion multiplayer sessions.
Of course, this can't be an official announcement without someone from Ubisoft letting us know just how successful the game is. Here's what Tony Key, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Ubisoft had to say:
The reception for Assassin's Creed III has been exceptional, and this success has positioned the game among the best sellers of the 2012 holiday season…We knew we had something special on our hands when Assassin's Creed III was launched, and we're really excited and proud to see how much fans are enjoying the latest installment in the franchise.
I guess a congrats are in order for the publisher, no? So I take it Assassin's Creed 4 or one of its spin-offs is a sure thing for 2013 if this leaked survey for the next game in the series is anything to go by.
For people who've finished AC3, is it worthy of being Ubisoft's fastest-selling game in history? Are you ready to jump in to the Animus again next year?
