Austin Wintory, the composer whose work for Journey was recently nominated for a Grammy, is now set to provide the music for the upcoming remake of Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards. Al Lowe, the creator of Leisure Suit Larry who has spearheaded the Kickstarter campaign for the remake, approached the composer recently, Wintory told Polygon:
The team that's remaking it, Replay Games, they had been fans of Journey. It's actually shocking that they would think to call me because they couldn't be more opposite of each other.
It's hard to imagine that the same mind could be behind both the beautiful, peaceful music that is such a core part of Journey and the kind of thing you'd expect to find in a Leisure Suit Larry game. But Wintory says he has written “sexy music” before, for films, and that Lowe and the team checked whether he'd be comfortable composing “seedy, back alley kind of stuff”.
Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards: Reloaded has already been funded, with $655,182 contributed towards its $500,000 goal. Those who pledged $25 or more will receive a digital copy of the soundtrack, and those who pledged at least $100 will get a CD.
