Square Enix had a new Tomb Raider trailer to reveal at this year's VGAs. While it shows new scraps of gameplay and cut-scenes, some of it might feel familiar — especially for those who've played Nathan Drake's previous adventures.
Of course, it can be argued that the Uncharted franchise stemmed from Tomb Raider, but it's hard to watch the trailer below without seeing a little bit of Uncharted in it.
Here's the Tomb Raider clip straight from the show itself. Skip to the 1:30 mark if you don't want to see Samuel L. Jackson being placed inside Dishonored's world.
Mind you, the Uncharted comparisons aren't a dig at what Crystal Dynamics is doing with Lara's new adventure. On the contrary, it's a compiment, especially if you consider how well-made Naughty Dog's Uncharted franchise is.
Let's just hope that Lara can step away Drake's shadow and have an identitiy all her own. Based from what we've seen so far, Crystal Dynamics is certainly on the right direction, no? I'd rather we have this new Lara now than one that's heavily "sexed" up or whatnot.
Does seeing the new Tomb Raider remind you of Uncharted? What can Crystal Dynamics do to remedy this if so? More importantly, are you willing to give another Tomb Raider game a go when it ships in March of 2013 for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3?
