NVIDIA Begins Closed Beta For Graphics Setting App GeForce Experience

December 6, 2012 by Holly Green

Adjusting your graphics settings is about to get a lot easier.

PC gaming definitely has its rewards, dare I say even privileges, but easy graphics settings configuration? That's not one of them. The power of a PC is enviable but with such a vast array of components, the process of figuring out the best balance of specifications can be tedious and time consuming. Luckily for us, NVIDIA is about to make that process easier with the upcoming GeForce Experience.

GeForce Experience will allow its users to automatically adjust their graphics settings based on a system scan run by the app. The scan sifts through a rig's components, analyzing literally thousands of different factors, and spits out recommended graphics settings accordingly. It will also provide details on each setting itself, with a textbox explaining what each does and what impact it has on your game and system. While the app is thus far limited to "compatible" games (thus far a total of 32, with more promised for the near future), it will likely encompass some of the games that need it the most, for example Borderlands 2 (the below photo shows Skyrim, Arkham City, Crysis 2, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, The Witcher 2, World of Warcraft, Starcraft II, and Call of Duty: Black Ops will also be supported).

Closed beta opened on the app today, with room for 10,000 to take it for a test spin.

The application's features will not be limited to settings optimization; it will also regularly update your drivers while they're at it.

There's not a timeline for when the open beta will be released, but I hope it's soon; I have my doubts there'll be a spot open in the closed beta for me by the time I get home to my gaming PC this evening. Have you had a chance to sign up and test it out? Let us know how it's been working out for you in the comments below.
