Square Enix graced today’s Nintendo Direct presentation to present Dragon Quest X: The Five Awakening Races Online, for the Wii U. The announcement was heralded by the release of a new promotional video, which you can see below.
The game was first launched for the Wii earlier this year, and will be making its way to Nintendo’s new console with higher resolution graphics. As the tenth installment of the Dragon Quest series, the game is the first to be designed as a cross between a typical Dragon Quest-style RPG and an MMORPG, allowing players to team up in groups of four to go to random dungeons and kill stuff, and go back to town to interact and socialize with other players.
Dragon Quest X offers cross-platform play as both Wii and Wii U versions of the game will connect to the same servers and have access to the same online world.
The game is set for release in the spring of 2013, in Japan. No date for an international release has been announced as of yet.
