The Second Season of Mortal Kombat: Legacy Details

December 4, 2012 by Matt Hawkins

The return of the hit Machinmia series is due next year and will feature new additions to the cast.

Mortal Kombat: Legacy might be one of the successful examples of Machinima in recent memory. What began as a short film that was devised as a pitch for a big screen reboot, eventually became a highly successful nine episode series on Machinima.com. Which in turn got director Kevin Tancharoen the job that he wanted: he's set to direct a brand new MK movie, set for sometime in 2013.

But he's also doing a second season of Legacy, and some preliminary details have finally been disclosed. Joystiq reports that Mortal Kombat: Legacy 2 will debut in Q2 of next year as well and will have numerous additions to the cast. Some of which are fairly notable.

Playing the role of Liu Kang will be Brian Tee (The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift), and the mantles of Kung Lao will be assumed. Mark Dacascos (Cradle 2 the Grave). Kuai Liang, who is the second Sub Zero in the games but is described as a "warlord adviser" in the press release, will be portrayed by Harry Shum, Jr. (Glee).

Ian Anthony Dale (Hawaii Five-O) is back as Scorpion, but Matt Mullins won't be Johnny Cage this time. Instead, that part goes to Casper Van Dien (Starship Troopers). Though most interesting of all is Cary Tagawa as Shang Tsung, a role he also played in the original 1995 live action movie.
