Exciting news has emerged from a recent interview with GamesBeat and Nintendo’s Charlie Scibetta, where Scibetta confirmed Metroid Prime 4 and Pokemon Switch for a 2018 release date.
Scibetta also goes on to confirm that Yoshi and Kirby will also be set for a 2018 release date, however, that was already mentioned in their E3 2017 trailers. The big news is that Metroid Prime 4 and Pokemon for Switch could be coming as soon as next year!
Check out the interview snippet down below:
GamesBeat: For the rest of the year, what’s the big message? Obviously Mario, but is there anything else?
Charlie Scibetta: Games. If you want to be able to play games and not have a dry spell between any of the big launches, we think Nintendo Switch is a good place to be. We have a nice drumbeat of first and third party. You’ll never have to wait long.
Just as you get through a game and you’re starting to put your head up, put the periscope out to see what else is out there, hopefully we’ll have something right there for you. We’ve announced a nice lineup through this year, and next year we have some big games coming with Metroid 4. 2018 will be around Metroid, Kirby, Yoshi, new Pokemon game has been announced. We feel good about the lineup for this year and beyond.
Fans expected both these titles, Metroid Prime 4 and Pokemon for Switch to release beyond 2018 as they are both huge ambitious titles. But thanks to Scibetta, we now have a knowledge that Nintendo is planning for them to release in 2018.
Anything can change as this is not written in stone. The developers could easily delay the game to 2019 to ensure a great experience for players, but with Nintendo already eyeing these titles to release in 2018, its good news for gamers.
This also goes hand in hand with Nintendo’s new philosophy of always having a new game on the horizon. As Scibetta states, as soon as the player finishes a game, they hope to have something there right for you to pick up and play.
Expect to hear plenty of news from the upcoming Nintendo lineup in the next couple of months. Which Switch title are you most excited for? Let u know in the comments below!
