The Culling, a battle royale centred first person shooter, will be making it’s way to Xbox One next month.
While The Culling hasn’t received much attention over the past year it did come before sensation PLAYERUNKOWN’S Battlegrounds which follows the same battle royal premise of the Culling. Unfortunately, it hasn’t quite received the attention it would have wanted to.
According to Steam reviews, when The Culling launched it was met with quite a happy fanbase, while difficult to get the hang of, it was still an intense Battle Royale blood bath. Due to updates and executive changes, it seems that the game went through a rough patch (pun totally intended).
Steam user Atrium sums up the issue stating that essentially what caused most of the problems is the lack of listening to the community and a test server whereby the community could test out the new additions before it was implemented across the board. As a result, the player base dropped – while the devs did revert some of the more frustrating changes, the damage had already been done.
Certain issues may be currently present but it seems that Xaviant has been working hard at making this game fun again with its constant patching and hotfixes. My prediction is that Microsoft verified their expansion onto Xbox One because they had faith in the game, that it could be something really great and even rival PUBG.
Perhaps I’m reading into it too much, but it does look like a genuinely fun game to try out, and considering the track record of patches aswell as the Watchful eye of Microsoft, it could be something to check out. What are your thoughts? Let us know in the comments.
The Culling will release for Xbox One on June 2 in North America and Europe.
